Algerian super heavyweight (+91kg) boxer qualifies for quarterfinals
APA – Beijing (China) Algerian Ouatah Newfel qualified to the quarterfinals of the men’s super heavyweight (+91kg) on Wednesday after beating Payares Jose from Venezuela by 7-5 points, in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games boxing preliminaries round (round of 16) at the Workers’ Gymnasium in Beijing. Ouatah is the only African to reach the quarterfinals of Men’s Super Heavy (+91kg), he will play vs. Ukranian Glazkov Vyacheslav on Aug 18. As for the two other Africans, they were defeated in the preliminaries. Amanissi Mohamed from Morocco was edged by Zhang Zhilei from China by 15-0 points, and Ohwarieme Onoriode from Nigeria was beaten by Jaksto Jaroslav from Lithuania by 11-1 points.
